Special & Permanent Exhibits
Make accessible parts of the museum that can’t be touched.
The Intention
Second Story in Portland was a design studio that makes museum experiences more engaging. I had made a goal while in university to work with them. Years later after moving to Portland, and with some persistence, it happened.
I worked on their Library of Congress project over the course of six months, and with a few job titles: visual and motion graphics designer, and retoucher. On certain parts of the project I set goals that required more of my skill than was asked. It made my job more difficult, but I knew it would simplify the process for the entire team.

Seamless Retouching.
Intuitive Design.
We designed a digital experience that echoed the elegance of the hall itself, drawing on its classic architecture, tile work, and motifs. My retouching work seamlessly merged multiple raw photographs into a single, continuous image, allowing users to pan and zoom across it without distraction. A simple interface with intuitive tools made it easy for anyone to explore, while discreet callouts highlighted details of interest. Clicking on a callout revealed close-up photography and explanatory text, guiding visitors through the hidden artistry of the space.
